PR time! I have yet another product review to share with all my naturals. I know you are thinking wow & it's not a Shea Moisture product! (lol) I was given this product at a natural hair event and was super excited to tackle yet another product I have been curious about. Although this particular masque by EBW's I haven't personally heard much buzz about it was on my virtual list of hair products to try. As some of you are probably aware I fell in love with another masque from this line EDEN Bodyworks Jojoba Monoi Deep Conditioner; so maybe my hair will love this masque too. As always this product review is based upon results with my tightly curled texture of hair - and what works for one may or may not work for another!  Let's dive right in...

So like I stated earlier I haven't heard many naturals mention this particular masque but it didn't curb my excitement at all as I was hoping this masque could be the ONE or TWO! (lol) So what are the statistics for this masque? This masque claims to penetrate hair shaft to transform dry, brittle hair through an intensely moisturizing botanical blend of Coconut Oil and Shea Butter to deliver softer, stronger hair. How awesome is that?! My hair loves Shea Butter and Coconut Oil so my hair was bound to love this masque, right? This masque is very affordable as it retails for $8.99 and is sold at most stores like: Sally's, Target, Curlmart just to name a few. This masque as you can see is packaged in a 16 fl. oz.jar & is paraben, sulfate, mineral oil, dyes, and is cruelty free. Let's see how well these bold claims stacked up against my tight and fickle curls.

Close up view of my tight curls

I just finished knocking out my detangling process and feeling good as that is long longest part of my wash day and now off to test out this new masque! So as I opened the jar at first impression I didn't think it had a smell however once I went in for seconds... the best way to describe the smell is super light and airy almost like stepping out on a white beach. I personally didn't love the smell but didn't dislike it either. While rubbing my fingers through the masque I noticed it contained a very thick consistency almost wax like and definitely didn't feel like there was an ounce of slip. I didn't throw in the towel yet as the other masque I love from this line has a similar texture. I was still hopeful but I have to admit it wasn't looking good as I have learned through much practice whether a product will work on my hair or not even before application. Still clinging to hope...

Another view

Scoop after scoop after scoop I now have managed to cover my hair completely for my liking and it wasn't easy to apply and work through. This masque has no slip at all as it is super-duper thick and kind of felt like I had peanut butter stuck in my hair. If you are looking for a masque that you can detangle your hair with this is NOT the one. I persistently continued to work this masque through my hair to help even out the waxy clumps. I felt satisfied with the coverage and left the shower and grabbed my plastic cap and heating cap and sat and pondered for 30 minutes! So already the wheels in my head were spinning as I looked over the ingredients in further detail to see why my hair had a sticky feeling to it. Maybe the Emulsifying Wax being so high on the ingredient list or the lack of Glycerin... I am not too sure. I didn't give up completely now as I still had to rinse it out to give my final conclusion. Do you think the masque may be just a late bloomer or was mind made up and I was clinging to hope?

Arial view of my happy curls - final results

I then proceeded to wash out the masque after letting this masque marinate for 30+ minutes. Oh boy... I had such a hard time washing it all out and it left my hair super dry and my curls weren't springy as usual or clumped into normal formation. I immediately started to think did I miss a step? (lol) I didn't panic I began to eye my trusted Aphogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor to bring my curls back to life and grabbed it and proceeded to let it sit for 2 minutes while I proceeded with the rest of my shower. Once I rinsed that product out I was back in hair business as my curls were plump, soft, defined and immediately brought back to life. I have learned that when things don't go your way in life stop-think-regroup and start again.

Full face view of my final results- happy it turned out well in the end!

My final thoughts: My personal experience with this masque didn't pan out like I hoped but now I know this masque isn't for me. My hair was left dry, hard, lifeless, matted and shrinkage galore! I encourage you to get familiar with what ingredients and product lines that work best for your hair texture. This masque was not a winner for me but may work well for you especially if you have already had much success with this product line. Now I can scratch this product off my virtual hair product list & better yet bless someone else with this masque. The big question is who now should I give it to? Have you tried this masque and had better success than I have?!

KEY INGREDIENTS:
